I do see a big interest for google: if a bot spend 1s instead of 3s to grab a page, it will visit 3x more sites in the same time, or consume 3x computing ressources...

Right. Anyway, it is still a new thing. We need to evaluate it if in practice it is that worthy. Maybe in some cases the speedup is not that significant, or not. The right thing to do now is to test it yourself.
